Book bloggers inform the author as to what is working and not working in a novel

I know I will benefit from the observations and opinions of book bloggers and reviewers who are willing to spare their time and read with a critical eye. They can provide valuable feedback, perhaps reflecting on why a character doesn’t work for them or where in the book they lost interest. In most cases reviews and blog posts will give an author something to think about.

The comments of book bloggers may come in time to address problem areas. In today’s publishing world, especially eBook publishing, revisions (even major ones) are not out of the question. Traditional publishers would probably not allow a reprint of a hard copy book, or even an eBook. It would be expensive and would reflect poorly on the editor. But there’s no reason why independent authors shouldn’t perform some surgery on their books, and put out a better version that just might catch fire.

Bloggers are a sounding board. They inform the author as to what is working and what is not working in a novel. They are indispensable. I look forward to honest reviews, good, bad, or indifferent. In the event of major revisions I would happily acknowledge a blogger’s contribution to the revised edition. So please, share your thoughts.
